Advice To Any Daughter

Dearest, men are fools and know it.
Do not blame them overmuch —
Nor is it thought kind to show it
When it comes to love and such.

Bite your tongue and hide your laughter,
Though you read them like a book;
There is but one thing they’re after
(Til they need a nurse or cook).

Charming, yes, but helpless babies,
Never buy one on a whim;
Test it first for lice or rabies —
Only then ‘give in’ to him.

Dearest, men are fools and know it.
One last thing before you go:
Make exception for a poet —
They, at least, know what you know!
